WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio (WDTN) - Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers grabbed more than three pounds of cocaine during a recent traffic stop in Madison County.
Troopers stopped a 2012 Ford Escape for a speed violation on Interstate 70 east of Springfield just after 7a.m. on September 20.
A Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle and a search uncovered 3.3 pounds of cocaine and a Smith and Wesson .380 handgun hidden in the vehicle’s dashboard.
A Columbus, Ohio man and an Atlanta, Ga. woman were taken into custody and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation and charges.
Troopers said they had received two separate drug tips on the # 677 hotline regarding the suspected drug trafficker prior to the stop.
