CANTON, Ohio (AP) - City officials in northeast Ohio say the weather turned favorable as thousands of runners completed the inaugural Canton Marathon.
The Canton Repository reports overcast skies helped keep runners cool as they finished events that included a wheelchair race, 10K and half marathon.
The inaugural event started early Sunday morning and finished at Fawcett Stadium. The paper reports that organizers were concerned about forecasts of possible hot weather, but overcast skies kept the sun away. They say a brief rainstorm also helped runners as they finished the course.
The marathon winner completed the race in less than two hours and 38 minutes.
