COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A service-oriented teaching program targeting schools in low-income areas is coming to Ohio next school year.
The nonprofit Teach for America recruits recent college graduates and professionals to teach for two or more years.
It plans to have at least 40 teachers in northeast Ohio and 30 in southwestern Ohio this fall. Officials hope to add 70 more Ohio instructors in 2013 and again in 2014.
The program says it has received support from school districts and others in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Dayton.
State officials say they believe the teachers will have a positive effect on schools.
Gov. John Kasich vowed in his first State of the State address last year to bring the program to Ohio. He later signed a bill opening the door for it.
The following people have recently been booked into Jail. They may not have been convicted of the crimes they are charged with and are innocent until proven guilty.
