ST. MARYS, Ohio (WDTN) - An Auglaize County teen is in trouble for selling sugar packets at school.
Police say Michael Pence was arrested at his St. Marys school Monday for trying to sell a counterfeit substance.
"I had these two little packets filled with sugar that I had taken to school because, quite honestly, the chocolate milk they have in the cafeteria is quite bland," said Michael Pence.
His parents are not happy with the one size fits all, zero tolerance policy.
"He was not attempting to pass it off as a counterfeit controlled substance. He wasn't trying to pass it off as crack. He wasn't trying to pass it off as coke, he wasn't trying to pass it off as meth," said Rob Pence, Michael's father.
Michael was suspended. His homework is brought to him at his home.
His parents say they don't have plans to send him back.
