CINCINNATI (AP) - Ohioans from the World War II era are being asked to share their memories of surviving the tumultuous 1940s in a project that state officials hope will provide valuable lessons for other generations.

Ohio's aging and veterans services departments are working together on the War Era Story Project that has drawn some national interest. It will gather personal recollections from military veterans and civilians about life during the war and the recovery years that followed as the decade drew to a close.

Contributors will describe dealing with the challenges of that time through written accounts or videos submitted to the Ohio Department of Aging by July 31.

Excerpts will be posted on the department's website around Veteran's Day with full stories featured in its free email newsletter.
