OSP: Failure to yield is wreaking havoc

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) - Failure to yield violations can be deadly, warns the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
It's the second highest cause of fatal crashes in Ohio in 2012, according to an OSP traffic bulletin .
Motorists running red lights, stop signs or failing to yield to traffic accounted for 37,475 accidents last year.
In those crashes, 187 people were killed and 23,353 injured.
Drivers age 16-25 were at-fault in 30 percent of these crashes.
“Drivers are urged to pay close attention to stop signs and signals when traversing Ohio’s roadways,” said Colonel John Born, Patrol superintendent. “They need to ensure the intersection is clear before entering it.”
The Patrol asks drivers to call # 677 to report impaired drivers or drug activity.
