COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol says drug arrests and seizures are climbing this year.
Troopers seized nearly 28,000 grams of heroin for the first six months of 2012. That is a 327-percent increase over the same time last year.
Marijuana busts are also up a whopping 107-percent.
All those numbers equal more arrests too. Troopers say overall drug arrests across the state are up 30-percent.
“Our troopers are out on the roadways everyday looking beyond the traffic stop - they are detecting and removing the criminal element from our communities” said Colonel John Born, Patrol superintendent. “But we can’t do this on our own; the public is encouraged to call #677 to report drug activity.”
