Ohioans march in response to Wall Street protest

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Inspired by protests on Wall Street in New York City, a group of Ohioans marched on the capital city's streets Saturday night.

Michael Stone, an Ohio State University student studying philosophy and linguistics, says he organized the march after having participated in the ongoing New York City protest.

Protesters have maintained a presence in Manhattan's financial district since Sept. 17, speaking out against corporate greed.

During the Columbus march, around 70 protesters handed out fliers and chanted "we are the 99 percent."

Stone says the majority of money and power is in the hands of 1 percent of the population, with the other 99 disenfranchised.

He says the goal of the march was to show people they can make a difference if they are discontent with the state of things.
