COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Department of Commerce says an Internet company has agreed to stop charging state residents for unclaimed funds searches.

Department director David Goodman said Monday that his office had ordered a company called Unclaimed Money LLC and its website to cease and desist from issuing claim forms and charging Ohio residents to search for unclaimed funds. He said they could face civil action if they continue their business.

The commerce department provides free searches to help people determine if they're entitled to unclaimed money collected by the state from deposits, refunds and other sources.

The company could not be reached for comment Monday.
