For Ohio campus, 2nd president's search in 3 years

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - Youngstown State University is beginning its second search for a president in three years and plans a slimmed-down, less costly process.

Cynthia Anderson, who became Youngstown State's seventh president in 2010, plans to retire July 1.

Trustee chairman Sudershan Garg expects a smaller search committee and it won't require a new institutional profile so soon, saving money.

For the previous search, the university paid $176,000 for consulting and interview expenses.

The trustee chairman tells The Youngstown Vindicator (bit.ly/VN5NaD) the next president must have the faculty's confidence, get along with trustees and be aware of tight finances.

The retiring president was the first woman and first Youngstown State graduate to serve in the top job. She also will be the Youngstown State president with the shortest tenure.
