COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A female bonobo has been born at a zoo in central Ohio.

The Columbus Zoo says the mother bonobo, named Unga, gave birth Tuesday morning to a baby girl who has not been named. It's Unga's third baby, and the 13th bonobo born at the zoo since it received its first in 1990.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Wilson says there are 17 bonobos at the zoo with this latest addition.

Bonobos are a separate species from the chimpanzee, with only 5,000 to 50,000 known to be in the wild.
