CINCINNATI (AP) - The Cincinnati zoo's lone female manatee, named Betsy, is getting a new companion from central Ohio.

The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden says another female manatee was trucked down Interstate 71 from the Columbus zoo on Friday. The 900-pound, two-year-old manatee named Woodstock was brought in as a friend for Betsy, whose previous companion left to be released into the wild late last year.

Both aquatic mammals are already on display.

The Cincinnati zoo participates in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service program that rescues and rehabilitates distressed Florida manatees. Officials say Woodstock was born in the wild and rescued off the Florida coast about two years ago.
