Cincinnati casino set to hire 400 more

CINCINNATI, Ohio (WDTN) - Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati is gearing-up for another round of hiring as it fills another 400 job openings.

It will be the second phase of recruiting as the casino prepares for its opening next year.

Candidates are currently being sought for accounting, finance, facilities, slots, security and Total Rewards.  The casino is also seeking chefs, sous chefs, and restaurant managers to operate the property's in-house dining and banquet facilities. Recruiting for cooks, servers, and other food and beverage positions will begin in December.

"Some newly posted positions require previous experience, but for many roles, a strong desire to deliver superior customer service with a positive and upbeat attitude is the main quality we will be looking for," said Lisa Rexroat-Steele, the casino's vice president of Human Resources.  "Interested job candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as postings will be removed once the requisite number of applicants has been identified to move forward."

Online applications accompany all job descriptions and candidates must be:

  • At least 21 years old at the time of application;
  • A high school graduate, or possess a GED equivalent;
  • Able to provide prior work history; resumes are not required but may be helpful in the screening process;
  • Flexible to work nights, weekends and holidays;
  • Willing to submit to and successfully complete all pre-employment requirements including a criminal background check, drug test and regulatory licensing requirements.

Horseshoe Cincinnati is expected to have a 1,700 member workforce when the the doors open in the spring of 2013.

Casino officials said they are committed to hire at least 90 percent of its workforce from the Cincinnati metropolitan area.
