CINCINNATI (AP) - The president of the University of Cincinnati has resigned for what the school calls "personal reasons."
No other information was disclosed immediately on the sudden departure from office of Gregory Williams, who became president three years ago. The school's enrollment has hit record highs during his time, with more than 42,000 students this year.
The board of trustees said Provost Santa Ono was appointed interim president Tuesday. It said more information would be released later on the search for a new president. The board's statement said the trustees appreciated Williams' service and contributions.
Williams previously was president of The City College of New York (CCNY), and had served as law school dean at Ohio State University.
