Ohio lawmakers consider family planning funds bill

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio House committee is considering a measure that could send Planned Parenthood centers to the back of the line to receive public funds used for family planning services.

The Health and Aging Committee scheduled a possible vote Wednesday on the measure.

Opponents have said it would largely cut funding for Planned Parenthood. Anti-abortion groups have praised the idea.

A House finance committee stripped a similar plan from a budget bill earlier this year.

The measure calls for eligible public entities or other community health groups that help uninsured and underinsured women to receive money from the state departments of Health and Job and Family Services before other providers like Planned Parenthood.
