COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio's elections chief plans to mail postcards to former and current Ohio residents to encourage them to update their voter registration information.

Secretary of State Jon Husted's (HYOO'-steds) office said Monday that it's using information from the U.S. Postal Service to contact 70,000 former Ohioans. Husted is urging them to cancel their voter registrations if they are no longer eligible to vote in the state.

Husted said Postal Service data also indicated that more than 300,000 Ohio voters have moved within the state.

He said those voters also will receive a postcard soon encouraging them to update their voting addresses before the Oct. 9 voter registration deadline.

Voters can also change their address online at www.MyOhioVote.com.
