DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) - A defense attorney says a central Ohio doctor charged with rape and two counts of murder in the death of a pregnant woman will plead not guilty.
Dr. Ali Salim of New Albany is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in Delaware County. Prosecutor Carol O'Brien says she'll seek a high bond for Salim.
A grand jury indicted the 44-year-old Salim on nine felony counts in the deaths last summer of 23-year-old Deanna Ballman of Pataskala and her unborn child. Relatives said Ballman's body was found in her car after she had headed to a house-cleaning job listed in an online ad.
The charges against Salim include two counts of tampering with evidence, as well as single counts of assault, kidnapping, corrupting another with drugs and abuse of a corpse.
