DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Governor Strickland named Dayton as the first Hub of Aerospace Innovation and Opportunity in the state, and said Dayton is on the map as "the place to go" for aerospace technology and research.
Strickland announced the designation during a news conference
Tuesday September 8, on the University of Dayton's campus.
The goal of the hub is to build upon Dayton' s strong
aerospace expertise, and to attract new businesses and high tech
jobs to our region over time.
Dayton was picked because of its rich aviation history as well
as the aerospace research happening already at Wright Patterson Air
Force Base, Tech Town as well as local universities.
" All these things coming together can result in Dayton, Ohio
known nationally and internationally as the center for aerospace
innovation , research and opportunity." Strickland said.
The Governor declined to say how much money the city could get as being the aerospace hub, but said "money must follow future planning."
