TROY, Ohio (WDTN) - Police are still searching for Jeff Bedinger, 51, on charges of aggravated murder, kidnapping and abduction after the fatal shooting of the man's 22-year-old stepson.
Brandon Haskins, 22, was shot and killed at the Towne Park apartments in Troy, Ohio Thursday afternoon.
Police said Bedinger left the scene with his 7-year-old son, Zane Bedinger. The boy was then the focus of a nationwide Amber Alert before being found safe Thursday night after being dropped off at a relative's house in Carmel, Ind. The child was then taken to a police station has since been returned to his mother in Troy, apparently unharmed, according to officers.
Investigators are still investigating what led up to the shooting. Officers said Bedinger was recently estranged from his wife, the boys' mother. She had been living in the apartment where the shooting happened for about a month.
Jeff Bedinger is described as a white male with brown hair brown eyes. He is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 235 pounds.
He's believed to be driving a silver 2007 Honda Accord 4-door with Ohio license plate EDT6246.
Police said Bedinger is armed with a handgun and should be considered dangerous.
