AKRON, Ohio (AP) - One dozen people have been indicted on charges of plotting to ship cocaine and marijuana from California to Ohio.

The federal conspiracy indictment was unsealed Tuesday. The defendants allegedly shipped drugs in hollowed-out engine blocks from Ontario, Calif., for sale in the Akron-Canton area of northeast Ohio.

The charges include money laundering and conspiracy to distribute large quantities of cocaine and marijuana. The alleged conspiracy lasted from mid-2011 through April.

The indictment seeks forfeiture of property seized in the investigation, including $50,000 in cash, a Porsche, a Land Rover and a Kenworth tractor.

The alleged scheme included arranging bank transactions to avoid attracting the attention of law enforcement.
