COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) - Businesses and education partners will be awarded $11 million to enhance learning opportunities for students in Ohio through co-ops and internships as part of Governor John Kasich's workforce development efforts.
Funding will be awarded to public and private Ohio institutions of higher education. Undergraduate programs will be required to match 100 percent and graduate programs will be required to match 150 percent of the awarded grant. The match can come from the institutions themselves or from any of their partners, including businesses. A mix of both business and educational institution contributions toward the match is preferred. Lead applicants must partner with businesses from the following JobsOhio target industries - biohealth, energy, automotive, advanced manufacturing, polymers, aerospace/aviation, food processing, financial services (banking and insurance), information technology and consumer goods.
Public and private Ohio institutions of higher education seeking to receive a portion of the $11 million will submit applications to the Ohio Board of Regents, where they will be reviewed as outlined in the Ohio Means Internships & Co-ops Request for Proposals.
