DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - An Ohio native returns to breathe new life into Dayton's Metro Parks.

After 25 years of working in parks and recreation departments from Northwest Ohio to Arizona, Five Rivers Metro Parks Executive Director Becky Benna feels that she's finally home.

Benna says her future plans will revitalize the downtowns of every town on the river.

Her first priority is to make the rivers more user friendly by raising $4-million dollars to remove the low dams.

Benna also wants to connect our communities through our bike paths.

She and her staff of 160 full time employees and 1000 seasonal volunteers are actively undergoing national accreditation, a top to bottom analysis of how each dime of their $22-million dollar annual budget is spent.
