DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Authorities arrested a fugitive rape suspect late Wednesday night following a stake out that lasted a few hours.

James Scott, 27, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Salem Avenue. He's accused of raping a child and has had a warrant out for his arrest since October.

Marshals say they watched the place for a couple of hours before going inside and arresting Scott.

At first Scott said he was someone else, but later came clean with his true identity.

Marshals were able to track him down thanks to some help.

"Various tips came in the last couple months," Deputy Marshal Chad Simpson says. "We were able to put it together and do some surveillance and lock him down to one residence."

Besides the rape charge, Scott was also wanted for obstructing official business and possessing drug paraphanalia.
