DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A convicted sex offender from the Dayton area was recently arrested in Mexico.
Kenneth Wade Rachal, 29, was arrested March 24 by Mexican Federal Police and U.S. Marshals in Cancun, Mexico after getting off a plane from Paris, France.
Rachal was wanted on a warrant issued by the federal court in Dayton for violation of the Adam Walsh Act after he fled the U.S. for Mexico in 2009 without registering as a sex offender. He was also already wanted for local charges of failure to register and for violating his Ohio parole. Rachal was on parole because of his 2005 conviction in Greene County for attempted gross sexual imposition of a child under 13.
"We will take all necessary steps, go as far as we need and work as long as we have to, to get these offenders brought before the court," said William Taylor, senior inspector with the U.S. Marshals. "It is important that the offenders know we will hold them accountable for their registration requirements and we are diligent in our efforts."
Taylor said Rachal had been masquerading as a Mexican citizen.
Rachal has been deported from Mexico and will be returned to Dayton.
