TROY, Ohio (WDTN) - 11-year-old Samuel Brewer invited his lifelong best friend 10-year-oldJonathan Kinnison to a party for his 4H club near Arcanum, on June 18th.
"He told me he was taking swimming lessons so I told him don't go in the deep end."
Then tragedy struck.
"He disappeared from my eyesight that's the last time I saw him until they pulled him up out of the water."
Amy Schwausch and Cindy McKinney go to school with the mother of the drowning victim
"That's awful for any little kid to have to go through, or even the family the loss of a child," Schwausch said.
"She doesn't really know answers to what happened to her son, basically its just been she wants answers and no one is giving them to her, " McKinney said.
But since they can't explain why no adults saw the boy in time, all they can do is try to help raise money for medical bills and funeral expenses.
They hosted a fundraiser at the Troy VFW Saturday.
Meanwhile for 11-year-old Samuel summer vacation and the innocence of childhood ended too soon.
"You still been going swimming?" Dave D'Marko asked. "No," he responded.
"So you don't want to get back in the water anymore?" "No"
Donations to help Kinnison's family can be made at any branch of Farmers State Bank.
