DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The website for Pace Career Central boasts its success is thanks to "an unending resolve to meet each student individually."

But its latest academic report card tells a very different story. It was far behind the state average in every category, some of the worst numbers 15 percent of 10th graders passing social studies Ohio Graduation Tests, 10 percent of 11th graders, and not a single junior passing science.
Attendance was just 81.5 percent, meaning the school failed in every measured category.

"You need to shut it down if you ask me, it's obvious they are being lazy," Chad Nickell said. "What kind of effort are they putting into it if the numbers don't add up?"

That's exactly what its sponsor the Lucas County Educational Service Center decided to do after the 2008 school year.  That decision was reportedly also based on financial problems. Thursday, the Ohio Department of Education confirmed the school won't reopen.

The whole thing has left neighbors wondering how it could have happened.
"They are always nagging about public schools, but look what's going on over here," Nickell said.
