Prison guard fired after threat

LEBANON, Ohio (AP) - A prison guard in southwest Ohio has been fired after allegedly making a threat on Facebook about Gov. John Kasich.

A  Lebanon Correctional Institution spokeswoman on Friday confirmed the firing. The Middletown Journal first reported that prison records show Jessie Hubbard of Trenton was fired Jan. 17.

Hubbard's termination notice says the posting on his Facebook page said "Ok we got Bin Laden ... let's go get Kasich next. Who's with me?"

The newspaper reports that Hubbard says he never intended the comment to be taken seriously. He says he made it while joking with friends over state legislation that would have placed limits on public employee unions.

Kasich says his office played no role in the firing. But he says people should never say such things about anyone.
