SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WDTN) - The Ridgeville Christian graduate rescued from Somali pirates released a statement of thanks Tuesday to the elite team that saved her life.

Navy Seals freed Jessica Buchanan and a Danish man during a dramatic mission last month.

Buchanan issued a statement from her Virginia home where she continues her recovery.

It reads in part, "I am humbled by the dedication of President Obama and those in the American government who planned and orchestrated my rescue and by the bravery and heroism of the soldiers who risked their lives to carry it out.".
