LEBANON, Ohio (AP) - A court has refused to grant a fourth trial for a southwestern Ohio man convicted of murdering his wife in their bathtub.
A prosecutor says a Warren County court denied Ryan Widmer's request Tuesday. Widmer is serving 15 years to life in prison for the 2008 drowning of Sarah Widmer.
Widmer's attorneys also sought DNA testing to determine if Sarah Widmer had a genetic condition that may have contributed to her drowning. The prosecutor says that request was denied, too.
Widmer was sentenced after his third trial last February. The first trial's guilty verdict was thrown out over juror misconduct. The second trial ended in a hung jury.
Widmer's attorney said she hadn't seen the latest ruling but would appeal. Widmer is appealing his conviction in a state appeals court.
The following people have recently been booked into Jail. They may not have been convicted of the crimes they are charged with and are innocent until proven guilty.
