DEERFIELD TWP., Ohio (WDTN) - The next time someone you don't recognize claims to be the company auditor, you might think twice before giving them access to the cash receipts.
Workers at the Waffle House in Deerfield Township learned that lesson the hard way Monday.
The Warren County Sheriff's Department says an impostor stole money as a result of her ruse.
Investigators say a woman walked into the restaurant and claimed she was the company auditor. They say she proceeded to walk around the store for 45-minutes "inspecting" the premises.
She then asked for the cash receipts and to open the cash register. That is when deputies say she made her move. She swiped the cash from the register and took off.
The suspect was caught in surveillance photos. She is described as having dark hair, with gray pants, a red shirt and black Adidas flip flops.
