Paying respect to fallen deputy creates repair job

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - So many people have paid their respect to a fallen Clark County deputy, that the road in front of her grave needs repair.

Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly announced plans Wednesday to fix the ruts and potholes caused by the warm, wet weather and all the traffic.

Deputy Suzanne Hopper was killed in a shootout at Enon Beach on New Year's Day last year. Her death touched the lives of Miami Valley residents.

"It just shows the caring, compassion, the feeling of genuine loss that this community has," said Sheriff Gene Kelly, Clark County.

Sheriff Kelly says leftover gravel from other roads will be used, so there will be no taxpayer cost.
