SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A local Walmart store open again following a bomb scare Wednesday night.

Police arrived at the Walmart on South Tuttle Road in Springfield a little after 8:00 after someone called to report a suspicious package.

Officers discovered the package roughly 8 to 10 inches long and wrapped in duct tape inside a shopping cart in the parking lot.

The Dayton Bomb Squad was called and they brought in a robot used to survey the area.

Officials told 2 NEWS it was not a bomb, but because they couldn't identify what it was, bomb squad crews detonated the package.

If you know anything about this that might help the Springfield Police in their investigation, call 324-7680.
