SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A Clark county woman was terrorized by an ex-boyfriend after their relationship turned sour.
35-year old Rodney Eudell Fields was charged with burglary and arson after breaking into and ransacking her Wakefield Drive home, in Mad River Township.
Authorities said Fields called the victim and warned her he was about to destroy her property, while she was out of town. Neighbors called 911 after seeing the front door of her home wide open, and seeing a bonfire in her backyard.
Authorities said they found a big mess when they got to the home. They found photographs of the victim torn and scattered on a bed. One of the pictures had a steak knife through it.
Deputies said Fields completely destroyed her bedroom and bathroom. Court reports stated, Fields emptied out drawers, threw out the contents of her refrigerator, and stuffed the victims clothes in a freezer.
Fields is also accused of starting a fire in the backyard, where he was throwing in photo albums and the victim's clothes. Authorities said, as he tore through her home in a fit of rage, Fields actually sent her cell phone pictures of the damage he was causing.
"The anger and violoence he demonstrated inside this house could have been taken out on victim, if she was home at the time. Thank God she was gone, and neighbors saw him and knew this wasn't right," said Sheriff Gene Kelly.
Authorities said Fields turned himself into authorities this morning. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bond.
