SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) - A freezing rain advisory is in effect Sunday from 6 p.m..- 1a.m. for Auglaize, Mercer, Logan and Shelby counties.
2News caught up with residents in Sidney as they prepped for the poor conditions.
"Sunday is my usual day off, but I wanted to make sure I got my grocery shopping done early," said Tracy Forman, after shopping at the local Kroger. "
"I actually drive for a living, delivery, so weather is always a concern naturally," said Forman. "You just have to slow down, be extra cautious and hope for the best."
JB Powers said he wasn't taking any chances either. 2News caught up with him and his granddaughters after they picked up some necessities Sunday evening.
'I don't like driving in ice," said Powers. "Its dangerous and you just have to slow down and be extra cautious."
AAA offered the following safety tips and reminders for drivers who find themselves in freezing rain conditions:
- Decrease your speed
- Increase your following distance
- Allow extra time to get to your destination
- Avoid any untreated roads if possible
- Turn your steering wheel into the direction your vehicle is moving if you begin to slide
- Always buckle up
