Woman fights to keep mother's killer in prison

SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) - A Shelby county woman has vowed to fight to keep her mother's killer behind bars.

Jay Crider, 51, is currently serving a 25 to life sentence for the murder of Becky Snider, 35, of Sidney.

Investigators determined Crider strangled Snider to death in her home on Poplar Avenue on July 9, 1983.

Snider left behind a son and daughter.

Angie Cotrell was 9-years-old when her mother was killed.  Now, in her late 30's, and a mother herself, Angie continues to fight to keep Crider from being granted parole.

Cotrell began on online petition to help her efforts.  She already gathered more than 300 signatures, but said she hopes to obtain 500 before Crider's parole hearing in Columbus on February 21.

"If he is released from prison, I would not only fear for my own safety and the safety of my family, but also the safety of every single woman and child in the community.  I believe their lives would be at risk."
