SHELBY Co., Ohio (WDTN) - A commercial truck driver is facing felony kidnapping charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers recovered two missing juveniles from Kentucky during two separate incidents in Wood and Shelby counties over the weekend.
Troopers were notified on June 9 by the caretaker of the Interstate 75, milepost 179, rest area that a young distraught female reported that she had just been released by her captor after being abducted for several days.
The 17-year-old female also reported that the captor still had another juvenile in his custody.
Troopers located the suspect's commercial vehicle on Interstate 75, southbound, near milepost 98 in Shelby County at 5:36 p.m. and located the second missing juvenile, 16-year-old female, in the vehicle.
The suspect, Darien Lakeith McKinley, 30, of Stonebridge, Ga., was charged with kidnapping, a second-degree felony and incarcerated in the Wood County Jail.
The Patrol and the FBI in Toledo and Dayton are investigating the kidnapping as a possible case of human trafficking.
Federal charges are possible.
