West Alex man charged with raping child

EATON, Ohio (WDTN) - A West Alexandria man is accused of physically and sexually abusing a girl under the age of 2.

Joshua Cook, 21, was arrested on July 4 after family members of the victim contacted the Preble County Sheriff's office and said they discovered signs of abuse on the baby girl's body.

Cook was questioned but he did not cooperate and was arrested, according to Preble CountySheriff Mike Simpson.  

Investigators say the suspect knows his alleged victim.

Cook is facing six felony counts including two counts of rape, one count of sexual battery, two counts of 2nd degree endangering children, and one count of 3rd degree endangering children.

He is scheduled into Eaton Municipal Court Friday, July 6, 2012.
