EATON, Ohio (WDTN) - Preble County deputies credit an alert citizen with helping them nab a burglary suspect.

Shawn Whitaker is now behind bars.

Deputies say the 27-year old was spotted running away from a home on US 35 just west of West Alexandria.

He was running back to the Deerfield Inn across the street where he had a room.

Deputies were tipped that someone picked him up and drove him into Eaton.

Eaton police caught up to him at a laundromat.

Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson says Whitaker admitted to stealing to support his heroin habit.
