CAMDEN, Ohio (WDTN) - John Lay and his family were sleeping when this man broke into their house on North Main Street around 1 AM last Thursday.  Lay says he didn't realize the robber had come into his home until he checked his surveillance video a few days later.

"I was very mad. I was scared for my son, scared for my mother," explains Lay.

In the surveillance video, you can see the man come into the kitchen and shine his light at the camera.

"I think he saw the cameras once he came in the door and looked up and then went back outside and at that point he went into my garage," says Lay.

The only thing the robber took from the garage was two brand new chainsaws but Lay says the situation could've been much worse.

"He could've been armed. He could've tried to kill us," comments Lay.

He's taking steps to try to prevent something from happening in the future.

"I'm actually going to install some outside cameras now. I'm going to teach both my son and my mother how to use my firearms. I'm going to get better locks put on my doors," says Lay

And Lay wants this robber caught before he hits any other homes.

"I hope we find this guy and get justice and we send him to jail. You know, you can't go around, coming in people's houses like that," he explains.

If you have any information on the home invasion, call Crime Stoppers at 222-STOP (7867).
