LEWISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) - A state fire marshall is investigating what caused a Preble County fire.
Heavy flames and smoke broke out in a two story home in Lewisburg late this morning.
Fire officials says no one was home at the time.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control, but parts of the house are now black from smoke.
"We were able to get a good knock down on the front room of the house and prevented the fire from extending, but there is some heavy smoke damage over the rest of the residence." Lewisburg Fire Chief Bob Stewart said.
The fire investigator are searching the scene to figure out how the blaze started.
The investigation should finish in the next couple of days.
