DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Police arrested a mother and three nurses, all accused of being involved in allowing a special needs child to starve to death.

Angela Norman, the child's mother, is charged with involvuntary manslaughter and endangering children.

Mollie Parsons, a nurse, is also charged with involuntary manslaughter, tampering with records and failing to provide for the functionally impaired.

Two other nurses, Mary Kilby and Kathryn Williams are also accused of failing to provide for the functionally impaired and failing to report child abuse or neglect

Makayla Norman was just 14-years-old when she died in March. At the time she was just 28 pounds. The coroner said malnutrition played a big factor in Makayla's death.

She suffered from cerebal palsy and required constant care, which investigators said she did not get.

The nurses' former employers just released this statement from Exclusive Home Care officials:

"We are deeply saddened by the death of Makayla Norman. The two nurses who were responsible for Makayla's care no longer work for Exclusive. Immediately after learning about this tragic event, our agency personally visited all clients care for by those former nurses and found all patients in good condition. Our agency is dedicated to patient care and in complying with all laws, regulations and conditions of participation. We have been and continue to cooperate with law enforcement and other state agencies in their investigation in to this matter. Our hearts go out to Makayla's family."
