DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - An organization for homeless youth opened “Lindy & Company, Gourmet Pet Treats” in Dayton Friday.
As part of the self-sufficiency program, Daybreak youth are required to be working. The Lindy & Company bakery provides the youth of the Daybreak organization with a safe and supportive working environment where they can practice and master the soft skills they need to secure and sustain outside employment, said organization officials.
Lindy & Company is located at 823 Wayne Avenue, Dayton.
The project was made possible by the generosity of two private donors. In addition, Daybreak reached out to Ashley’s Pastry Shop in Oakwood for expertise and guidance during the development of this program. Ashley’s also allowed Daybreak staff and youth to use their bakery before opening the new location.
Daybreak serves close to 2,000 youth each year primarily from Montgomery County, however, youth come from Greene, Miami, Butler, Preble and other surrounding counties.
