Freezing temperatures turn roads slick

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Frigid temperatures, high winds, and slick roads, are causing traffic problems and delays across the region this morning.

A pile-up involving tractor-trailers, cars, and trucks has northbound I-75 at a near standstill since about 5 a.m.

A check of the 2 NEWS schools and closings page on WDTN.com shows nearly two dozen schools and businesses opening late.

Storm Team 2 Meteorologist, Jamie Jarosik, says temperatures will continue to fall and wind could also gust up to 40-miles per hour.

In fact, a tree toppled onto Spangler Road near Union Road, southeast of Medway late Wednesday night. Clean-up crews had to saw it apart on the road to get it safely removed.  Two cars had to swerve to miss the tree, but no one was hurt.

We could see some snow today, however any accumulation should be under an inch, according to Jarosik. Just enough snow to make roads slick and dangerous to drive.

The next system that could bring snow is on Saturday.
