West Carrollton's $1.2M water project

WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) - West Carrollton residents may have noticed a large construction crane towering over the water treatment plant on Pierce Avenue.

A major renovation of the city’s clearwell reservoir began September 4. The $1.2 million project is funded through a 20 year loan from the Ohio Water Development Authority. Officials hope to have the new clearwell operating by May 2013.

“Residents will not notice any changes in their water delivery during the project,” said Rich Norton, service department director. However, the project, which was required by the Environmental Protection Agency, will improve the efficiency of the city’s softening, filtration, and delivery process.

The new clearwell will hold 425,000 gallons of clean water and is several times larger than the old well-which will remain in use as a back-up reservoir as required by the newer EPA regulations.
