West Carrollton interchange set to go

WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The pavement has been laid, the guardrails have been installed, the traffic lights are working, and now all ODOT crews have to do is roll the orange barrels out of the way on the final stretch of the Interstate 75 interchange at Exit 47 at Central Avenue and Dixie Drive.

The long anticipated overhaul began back in February of last year.

ODOT officials said they will open up the final ramp from northbound I-75 to South Dixie Drive later today, Friday July 20.

The opening for this vital intersection was scheduled for yesterday but rain hampered their road striping progress.

Many business owners along this once busy stretch are happy to see the opening, like Christine Allen, owner of antique shop Vintage 9-3-7.

"When we saw the cars going both ways we're cheering and celebrating - yeah it's finally open. We're going to have customers."

So, after many years of waiting, the I-75 and South Dixie Drive and Central Avenue interchange project should be completed by this October.

ODOT estimate this project at $26.4 million.
