HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) - A standoff in Huber Heights put some people out of their homes overnight -- after police forced the suspect out with tear gas.

Police arrested 28-year-old Kenneth Anthony Juniel after he held police at bay for nearly three hours outside the apartment complex in the 5700 block of Fisher Dr.

Police said a neighbor called 911 just before 9 p.m. to report an assault.

Huber Heights Sergeant Chris Kash told 2 NEWS a woman reported Juniel had strangled her.

When they tried to talk to Juniel, he ran into an apartment and refused to come out.

Residents were forced to stand outside after officials evacuated the building, and called in the SWAT team to begin negotiations.

Witnesses reported the suspect possibly having a handgun.

Eventually, SWAT team members were forced to use tear gas.

We're told the victim is okay, and didn't need medical attention.

Juniel is facing assault charges as well as inducing panic.
