DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The man shot by security guards at a Dayton apartment complex has died.

Dante Price, 25, of 5761 Rucker Rd. was shot by guards at the Summit Square Townhouses off Hoover Avenue around 11:30 Thursday night.

Police told 2 NEWS they responded to a call at the townhouses and found a car on fire. Price was inside with gunshot wounds, and the car doors were locked.

According to investigators, Price had a run-in with security guards who were hired by the townhouses.

The manager says he had talked with Price multiple times about why he wasn't allowed on the property. Officials wouldn't disclose why Price was originally trespassed.

The guards told police they asked Price to leave, but instead of going, he tried to run over them with his car.

That's when the guards fired shots at the man, causing him to put the car in neutral and hit the gas.

Firefighters rescued the victim from the burning car and medics took him to Miami Valley Hospital where he later died.

Investigators will talk with prosecutors about the case early next week. Prosecutors will then decide whether to file charges against the guards.

Police say the guards work for Ranger Security. The Summit Square manager says the firm has provided security for the townhouses for several years.

The guards are allowed to carry guns.
