VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) - The majority of flights departing from Dayton International Airport were canceled early Monday morning.
Travelers were keeping a close eye on their flight's status in fear Hurricane Sandy would affect their plans.
2 News spoke with travelers arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina, Washington D.C., and and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Sunday evening.
"Anything from Charlotte to the east coast is shut down," said Brian Carr, who arrived in Dayton around 7:30 Sunday night "There were incredibly long lines of people throughout the terminal lines in Charlotte."
Brian Carr is from Cincinnati and often travels for business. This trip took him to Orlando, Florida with a connecting flight in Charlotte.
"When we were flying I could see the weather out there," said Carr. "Its definitely going to be a strong storm."
Brian said he felt fortunate he dodged any weather related delays, but isn't so sure he will Monday. Carr is supposed to fly out to Pittsburgh that morning.
"The weather in Pittsburgh Monday is supposed to be really bad," said Carr. "I may have to call off Pittsburgh tomorrow."
But, for Christy Carns, calling off her business trip isn't an option.
2 News caught up with the Cincinnati native before she boarded her flight to Charlotte.
"I'm going to Orlando, but I have a connecting flight in Charlotte. I know the weather is fine in Florida now, but I am worried about North Carolina."
