WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Famersville-West Carrollton Road bridge reopened Thursday morning, after being closed for a six month construction project.
Prior to construction, city leaders say the road was closed an average of three times a year because of flooding.
This one million dollar project has been on the fast track from the start.
It was scheduled to begin in April, but because of the mild winter we experienced here in the Miami Valley, construction crews were able to get started back in February.
Unfortunately, the early start date didn't save tax payers any money, but it is a perk for drivers who use the bridge every day.
The road was raised 7.5 feet, so heavy rain shouldn't cause the flooding that used to create a mess of delays and issues for nearby businesses.
The project was funded through grants and loans from the state.
The Purple Passion 5K run/walk was held at Shawnee Park Saturday afternoon.
