DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - People camped out overnight Thursday, to sign up for the HEAP Winter Crisis program.
A line was forming at the Community Action Partnership on South Main Street-- that's where people can get help heating their home this winter.
The program is administered by the Ohio Development Services Agency, and they told us approximately 155,000 households were served last year by HEAP-- a number they expect to grow.
The HEAP program provides assistance once per heating season, now through the end of March, to eligible households that are threatened with disconnection, have been disconnected or have less than a 10-day supply of bulk fuel.
Qualifying for HEAP is dependent upon the size of the household and the total gross household income which must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
If you fall within these guidelines, you qualify.
If you are interested in receiving HEAP Winter Crisis assistance you must have a face-to-face interview at a local provider agency.
